On the 6pm news tonight (Tues 26th April) was a sports piece where a young athlete who had won commented he would “get pissed” as a result of the win. It was made light of in the way it was presented and commentated on.

Not only do I find his language inapporpriate to be put on the six oclock news but also I find it ironic and ridiculous that we are constantly told of the drunk behaviours of sports stars through the news and how frowned upon it this is in their career and then here you are making a joke of this young athlete and his response.

As a news deliverer you play a massive role in shaping what is culturally acceptable and in this instance I find it is a very mixed message.
