“FANGO has secured over 200,000 downloads since launch, averaging over 10,000 downloads each day. FANGO for iPhone was App of the week in the iTunes App store and FANGO for iPad reached the number one ranking in the iTunes App store.”

“The research revealed that 41 percent of people post on Facebook while watching TV and 36 percent use a mobile phone to text or call friends and family while watching TV. People are also more likely to use social media during or after a show airs on live television.”

“This survey reinforces the hypothesis that viewers are active users of social media whilst consuming television programmes. It also supports the notion that peer recommendation remains a significant influencing factor in the consideration phase of programme selection. ”

“The research clearly shows that Australians love to watch appointment-based TV. The success of FANGO demonstrates a new way in which Australian television viewers can engage with shows FANGO brands and other fans, as the show is airing,” said Kristin Carlos, Head of TV, Yahoo!7. “FANGO makes it easier for viewers to engage with their favourite TV shows.”

On the 6pm news tonight (Tues 26th April) was a sports piece where a young athlete who had won commented he would “get pissed” as a result of the win. It was made light of in the way it was presented and commentated on.

Not only do I find his language inapporpriate to be put on the six oclock news but also I find it ironic and ridiculous that we are constantly told of the drunk behaviours of sports stars through the news and how frowned upon it this is in their career and then here you are making a joke of this young athlete and his response.

As a news deliverer you play a massive role in shaping what is culturally acceptable and in this instance I find it is a very mixed message.

I am quite unhappy with the recent (tonight for example) over-indulgence in the royal wedding between Kate Middleton and Prince William.

It is a fact (established in online polls this week) that the majority of people in the country would prefer a republic rather than a monarchy. This indicates that the majority of viewers do not care about the royal wedding and its lead up or festivities.

I find it just awful that you shifted the hit new show Winners and Losers tonight for a documentary on the wedding and the showing of the Queen (which could have been shown any other time rather than prime time Tuesday night). It seems a person cannot turn on the TV without getting bombarded with this craziness.

We don’t need to constantly hear it, see it, breathe it. Personally, I could not care less, I despise Kate Middleton and would not want to watch anything involving this.

I hope that this can cool down!

This was an important and emotional program on perhaps Australia’s most important day. In the circumstances I thought the advertising (in blocks of 10) was insensitive and excessive.

It begs comparison between the emotion of the material and the advertising which seems purile and petty.

It was probably counter productive, really annoying the audience and no doubt turning it off the products displayed.

There is a distressing trend at Channel Seven to wring the last bit out of advertising, while it no doubt brings in the big bikkies you might consider how poorly it is recieved.

I seem to remember that it was agreed that channels would be “responsible” if allowed to be self-regulating.
I have not seen it of late!

Most shows on Australian HD channels are just re-runs of old episodes not even filmed in HD.

My main concern is mostly with sport. Why is it that Channel 9 can`t broadcast on one of your HD channels NRL games? Being that viewing sport is mostly benefited from viewing via HD.

I feel ripped off and very disappointed by Channel 9.
