Hi, I am new and I enjoy watching TV a lot. I buy all sort of TV series in DVD format from stores like JB Hi Fi or Sanity. Nothing like going hom after work and sitting in front of the tele and relaxing. However I recently moved to Australia and all my life I have been watching American shows and a little UK stuff. I love shows like -

Heroes (season 1 only)
Prison Break
Alias
Lost
Smallville
Babylon 5

As you can see I have no particular preference in terms of genre. I like the show to be well written and it must have a little drama on an ongoing basis. I love how shows like Alias and Prison Break had a running theme for an entire season and how the characters grow and change. At the moment I am watchning the Gilmore Girls and its amazing, funny and brilliant cast.

As a new resident of Australia, I am trying to get into local television series and don't know where to start. Can you guys recommend anything? What would be a good show to start with for someone who has been so exposed to American programs? I know there are a lot of good shows but dont know where to start.
